The Volusia Rape Crisis Center is the Certified Rape Crisis Center for Volusia County, Florida and is located at 203 Washington Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL, 32168.  The office is open Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm.

We maintain the 24-Hour Sexual Assault Helpline and provide crisis intervention and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Through our 24-Hour Sexual Assault Helpline, you will be in immediate contact with a Sexual Assault Advocate.

Therapy and Support Services

The Volusia Rape Crisis Center provides free and confidential support services to victims of sexual assault, including crisis intervention, support groups, information and referrals, and therapy.

Prevention and Outreach Services

The Volusia Rape Crisis Center promotes the prevention and awareness of sexual assault in our community.  We attend community events and health fairs, providing prevention programming and sexual assault awareness presentations to citizens and visitors of Volusia County. We work closely with law enforcement agencies and provide Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) to law enforcement personnel responding to those in crisis and affected by trauma.

We are the only Rape Crisis Center to provide law enforcement personnel with this training and work closely with first responders in assisting them with the challenges of those suffering from the trauma of sexual assault.

Our Outreach activities provide information and to help us identify victims of sexual violence. Outreach presentations are provided to schools, professionals, and community organizations.

Advocacy

Victim Advocates offer support, crisis intervention techniques, information and referrals, accompaniment with the criminal justice system, information on victim rights, assistance with injunctions for protection, information and assistance with Crime Victim Compensation applications, relocation services and case management.

If you believe you have been sexually assaulted:

  • Make sure you are in a safe environment. If you believe you are still in danger, call 911.
  • Once you’re out of physical danger, contact someone you know and trust, such as a friend, relative, teacher, school counselor, friend’s parent, doctor or religious leader.
  • Call us for help and support. We have rape crisis helpline staff available 24/7 to help you through the process. You can reach us at 800-503-7621.
  • Seek medical attention even if you don’t intend to report the attack to police. All hospitals in Volusia County can provide a forensic exam even if you do not report the attack to police. Evidence can be collected whether you do or don’t report the crime to law enforcement. Be sure not to bathe or brush your teeth before visiting the emergency room in order to preserve the forensic evidence.
